Our market has 5 Vendors that will be representing the Market at the reunion, This will be our 6Th year. Jim and Cc Gulick of The Berry Patch , with all the Jams and Jellies. And jack and Janet Brooks with there Local Honey. And Lynn Oatman with all of her baked whole grain breads and goodies. And Richard Srch with produce, and then Me with my homemade cinnamon jelly, gourd bird houses , pumpkin bread, zucchini bread and cucumber bread, and white bread.

We had a guest Speaker Lane McConnell She is a Private market Consultant, and she talked to the vendors on how to improve sales at a Farmers' Market.
We had Tom Flowers from the Greene County Health Department to go over all Health Dept Rules and regulations, and he answered all questions.
Justin Wagler a MSU Student will be designing us a new Farmers Market Brochure, and a opening day poster, and fliers for some special events for the 2010 season.
We want to Wish Ray and Jan Vanish good luck with there Business, they were are Egg Vendor.
They will not be returning to our Market.
Lori Greene will be bringing eggs to the market so we will still have those great farm fresh eggs there.
We want to welcome a new vendor that will be joining our market her name is Shirley Allen of Fair Grove.
She will be baking from scratch home made pies, and brownies, and no bake cookies, and cakes. And Apple Butter.

Wednesday March  4TH. We went to the School for their 1ST Benefit Health Fair, for all the Fair Grove School Staff. We had 2 tables set up with information about our Market as well as Fresh tomatoes from the Blossers Green House. I purchased store bought tomatoes and had them on hand to show people the difference. We handed out samples of the fresh tomatoes, to get everyone geared up for the first tomatoes of the season and to taste the difference. Then I had 2 store bought eggs and 2 farm fresh eggs with information about eggs, I had them cracked open on a plate to show the difference in the yolks. I gave out samples of my jelly to show people the difference between store bought and jelly from a farmers market. I had our banner hung up behind us.We had information about our opening day events as well as a list of all vendors, I had printed out information on eggs, as well as vegetable's and the benefits of honey and cinnamon and jams and jelly's. Brad and printed a Did you Know. The School required a $50.00 dollar door prize from each Business. Our Market Gave out (5) $5.00 gift cards and 5 AGRI MO shopping bags total $50.00. This way we was able to reach out to 10 people as winners instead of 1. And the $5.00 gift cards will benefit the winner's as well as the vendors.
And the event was from 1pm till 4pm.
I had book markers made up ( I made personally on my computer)and business cards to hand out. We handed out bumper stickers (No Farms No Food).
Brad and I was busy talking and promoting the Market, We was the busiest booth there.

Barb Pate has been busy making some Homemade Jams and Jelly's.
Great News
John and Barb Pate will be bringing some fresh home made Jams and Jelly's at the Fair Grove Farmers' Market this Year.
 Blackberry, strawberry, strawberry rhubarb, peach, gooseberry, plum, pepper.
They have been busy planting tomato plants in there hot house. They are trying to get them so they will have fresh tomatoes on Opening Day for sale.
Jellies are made only from the juice of fruit, and they are typically the stiffest type of fruit preserves.
As a rule, a jam is a thick puree, made from fruit pulp or crushed/mashed fruit.
Reason To Buy Home Made Jams and Jelly's:
Most healthy people can consume refined sugars (or any other type) within reason. Some jam manufacturers use corn syrup, or HFCS in their products; the chief virtue of the two seems to be that they are less expensive than sugar. In addition, there is some evidence linking consumption of HFCS to increased caloric consumption and weight gain, although much of that evidence has been derived from soft drink consumption. Of more importance for the scope of this article is the fact that the use of corn syrup, particularly HFCS, leads to a syrupy sweetness and sticky texture in a jam or preserve. Using either or both will allow a manufacturer to produce a jam or preserve at less cost, and therefore one that can be sold at a lower price. However, the jam/preserve thus produced will almost certainly be excessively sweet and of lesser quality. Fortunately, most of these preserves are of the grocery store variety and can easily be avoided. By  BUYING Fresh from A Farmers' Market.
A further note about the use of fruit in jams and preserves: Some companies use dried fruits in their preserves. Although this seems to be less of a problem in strawberry jam than in, for instance, apricot, companies are not legally required to tell you if they’re using dried fruit, unless the fruit contains sulfites. If you see a jam jar label with a warning that the jam within contains or may contain sulfites, it’s a good indication that at least some dried fruit has gone into the mix.

I had such a over whelming turn out from the customers as well as the vendors.
I handed out voter forms the last 2 weeks of the market to customers as well as vendors, to vote for there favorite vendor and why. We all meet at Hilltop pizza for a Vendors night out and to hand out awards and all vendors received a Agri Mo shopping bag. All the Vendors are winners with there hard work and dedication.

The Fair Grove Farmers' Market last Day for the 2009 Season is oCTOBER 7th.
So if you need to stock up on your jams and jellies and get the last of the seasons produce, or get you a pumpkin or some mums, today will be the last day.
Our Market would like to take this opportunity to thank The volunteer fire dept for helping us with parking.We had one volunteer that was there almost every week. Thank You, And all so Empire Bank and The Bank of Bolivar for letting me come in and make copy's, and all so Empire bank for letting us put our Market sign in the Front Lawn. And all so the MFA for lettings us place a sign in there Lawn. And for the Lions club and the Historical Society for the use of The Pavilion. And Raynee Bradford for her hard work and dedication for The Chamber of Commence book that has our market listed in there. And Carl Buckner and Leon Batty they helped us with the Picnic tables and did maintenance on the pavilion.And Larry Schletty for installing the Diaper Changing Station in the women's restroom that the Market Bought.

Our market has 7 Vendors that will be representing the Fair Grove Farmers' Market and the Agri Mo,at the Heritage Reunion, This will be our 6Th year.  And Jack and Janet Brooks of Fair Grove with there Local Honey.Jack has 60 bee hives and 3 nuc's and has been a member of the Fair Grove Farmers Market for 10 years, Jack also sells his honey with or with out combs and also has the combs separate for sale. Before there was a market Jack would sit along the Highway and sell his produce.Â

Richard has been a market member for 9 years. Alot of people last year took pictures of there kids on the trailer with all the mums and pumpkins.
 Debra VanBenthusen with her  homemade cinnamon jelly,Cinnamon jelly is made with sugar or splenda,  gourd bird houses , pumpkin bread, zucchini bread and cucumber bread, and a Pork Chop Rub, this is a old dutch recipe that has been in the Vanbenthusen Family for generations.
Our Vendors take great pride in representing The Fair Grove Farmers' Market, and the Agri MO. We will be able to accept EBT cards as well as debit. Â Our Market won 2ND place for Farmer Market of the Year award for the whole State of Mo, and we also won Best event for our Kids Club and best marketing award. We are very Proud of our Community and the support, and Thankful for the Historical Society for letting us set up every week at the Pavilion.
We will also have Agri Mo canvas shopping bags for sale for $5.00. All the proceeds from the sale of these bags goes to a market account, We just purchased a must needed, diaper changing station from the sales of these shopping bags. This will be in the women's restroom at  the Pavilion.

Our customer appreciation was great hit, Jan Vanish, Anita and Lisa served the customers from 3:30 till 7 last week at the Market. All the vendors put togther there fresh vegtables and baked items for  all the customers to sample. We all had a great time.

 John Pate has Fresh Jonathen apples, and there is sqaush and watermelons and the Mums should be arriving any time. Jack Brooks (our local honey man) will have plenty of tomatoes, His crop got put in late. So any of you canners be sure and get some from him.
The Market has purchased a diaper changing station for the womens restroom, from the sales of the Agri Mo shopping bags. All the shopping bags we sell  profits the Market as well as the Customers.

The Fair Grove Band Booster will be having a fundraiser at The Fair Grove Farmers' Market on September 2ND from 3:3 0 till 7:00 P.M.They will be cooking
up a storm with some Frito pie and chili dogs with drinks.They are going to call it a 'chili supper' .Proceeds will go toward new Sousaphones (Tuba used for marching band) for the FG band program. So mark Your calender and Join in on the Fun of shopping for fresh produce and enjoy a supper from the Market Cafe.

Fair Grove Farmers' Market at The Heritage Reunion

And at The Top of The Hill in Front of Hilltop Pizza, you can find Sandra Myer with her Soaps and Mylisa Pryor with some crafts and her herbs.
The 32ND Annual Fair Grove Heritage Reunion will be held Saturday, September 26, from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Sunday, September 27, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., in Fair Grove, Missouri, located approximately 12 miles north of Springfield, just east of Highway 65, on Highway 125.You will find over 300 arts and crafts, food, and fundraising booths, along with a Saturday hometown parade and a Sunday church service. The event features country music, dancing, period entertainment from the 1800's, horse and mule obstacle course demonstrations, antique small engine, tractors, threshing, and lots of things to eat.Free admission. Several lots require a $3.00 fee for parking. Trolleys are available to take visitors to and from the outlying areas. Structures of interest include the Wommack Mill, Bell Hotel, Miller's Cabin, Blacksmith Cabin, Duke School House, Farm Machinery Museum and several restored buildings on the historic Fair Grove Square.For more information, call 417-759-2807.

I'm So saddened to have to post this
Our Market and Community has lost a Great Man and Vendor. Eli was a member of the Fair Grove Farmers' Market for 8 Years. He went to his final resting place on Sunday July 19TH. Eli was well known by his customers for his fresh strawberries and produce. And in the Spring his beautiful flowers. He always had the best.
Eli was also was a member of the Greater Polk County Farmers' Market.
Our Hearts and Prayers go out to The Family.
We will all miss Eli

July 29Th Corn Feed At The Market.

The Corn on the Cob is at the Market, along with Blackberries, and all the other Great Fresh produce. We have fresh farm eggs there every week, along with Jams and Jellies and fresh baked items. I'm personally baking zucchini bread along with pumpkin bread and I'm baking some with splenda for the diabetic customers.I also offer cinnamon jelly made with splenda. And be sure and check out the Berry Patches home made pies. We have a lot to offer at our Market. July 29TH we will be Celebrating our Markets 10TH Year.
The Fair Grove Booster Band will be having there 1st annual fundraiser at The Market that day also. If it is a success, I was told they will do it yearly.
They will be husking and cooking fresh corn on the Cob. You can buy a Fresh cooked Ear of corn and help support your local school band. This helps pay for there traveling expense's along with all there other activities. Our Market will be having a drawing every hour for a Agri Mo Canvas Shopping Bag that day also. We will have other activities going on.
So please be sure and bring your family and friends to the Market, and enjoy the bounty of eating healthy fresh produce.

Opening Day opened with a Buzz
We had a Great Opening Day
Our Market Bought a Red Maple Tree from Hampton's Green House and Planted It in honor for
Earth Day and Arbor Day and for our Market being in operation for 10 Years.
Cody Smith from the Mo Dept of conservation was there and Helped and Educated all on the proper way to plant tree's.

Fair Grove Farmers' Market Gearing up for the Heritage Reunion

The Fair Grove Farmers' Market will have Booths at The Heritage Reunion.
Our market has 7 Vendors that will be representing the Fair Grove Farmers' Market and the Agri Mo,at the Heritage Reunion, This will be our 6Th year.  And Jack and Janet Brooks of Fair Grove with there Local Honey.Jack has 60 bee hives and 3 nuc's and has been a member of the Fair Grove Farmers Market for 10 years, Jack also sells his honey with or with out combs and also has the combs separate for sale. Before there was a market Jack would sit along the Highway and sell his produce.Â
And Lynn Oatman with all of her baked whole grain breads and sticky buns and lots goodies. http://www.lynnsbread.com.
 And Richard Srch with a trailer with produce. pumpkins and beautiful mums.
Richard has been a market member for 9 years. Alot of people last year took pictures of there kids on the trailer with all the mums and pumpkins.
 Debra VanBenthusen with her  homemade cinnamon jelly,Cinnamon jelly is made with sugar or splenda,  gourd bird houses , pumpkin bread, zucchini bread and cucumber bread, and a Pork Chop Rub, this is a old dutch recipe that has been in the Vanbenthusen Family for generations.
Our Vendors take great pride in representing The Fair Grove Farmers' Market, and the Agri MO. We will be able to accept EBT cards as well as debit. Â Our Market won 2ND place for Farmer Market of the Year award for the whole State of Mo, and we also won Best event for our Kids Club and best marketing award. We are very Proud of our Community and the support, and Thankful for the Historical Society for letting us set up every week at the Pavilion.
We will also have Agri Mo canvas shopping bags for sale for $5.00. All the proceeds from the sale of these bags goes to a market account, We just purchased a must needed, diaper changing station from the sales of these shopping bags. This will be in the women's restroom at  the Pavilion.
